President’s Corner

What a fun time we had last year! Our 2009 season was the creme de la creme in entertainment. Licklog players put on an astounding seven plays over the season, thanks to all the hard work from our volunteers, actors, and most talented directors. From the wonderful musical “I Do I Do”, the fabulous “Enchanted April”, “Philadelphia Story”, the hit “Oklahoma”, funny “Two in to One” to the Murder by the ” Ladies in Retirement”. Then our season ended with “The Littlest Angel” with great energy and holiday spirit. I personally want to commend our staff, directors, actors, and behind the scene volunteers for such quality work throughout the season and I thank our patrons for helping to make this last year a success.

Licklog Players has grown leaps and bounds since our inception 32 years ago. In the early years Licklog Players started out in the Hayesville High School Auditorium with three productions a year. The first production Licklog produced was “Three One Act Plays” in June of 1978. Eight years into their dramatic adventure, Licklog was invited to the Peacock Playhouse to be the resident theater company. The first play at the Peacock Playhouse was “Curious Savage” in June of 1986. That was 24 years ago and we’re still going strong. Since then, Licklog Players has grown into one of the most active theatre groups in Western Carolina, producing a year-round schedule of plays, musicals, and educational workshops for both adults and children.

Licklog Players has introduced generations of people to the magic of theatre, many of whom have pursued theatrical careers thanks to the encouragement and training provided by our talented staff. Over the 32 years, Licklog Players activities has helped spur economic development in our community. We are a volunteer based community theater group and rely on our volunteers and donors for their support.

We hope you make time in your busy schedules this year to enjoy our exciting productions. Licklog Players seeks to enrich the cultural life of residents and visitors through our performances and educational workshops.

In closing, we look forward to seeing you at the theater and wish to thank you for your continued support. Have a blessed new year!
