Numerous photographs of the species of the flower of the kalatei impress the imagination of the flower growers not with bizarre inflorescences, but foliage with a unique coloring for each variety. The homeland of this kind of herbaceous variegated plants is the tropical zone of the South American continent.
Large kalatei with a height of 70-80 cm are valued by lovers of indoor plants for foliage of a fairly simple oval or elliptical shape, with an original pattern on the leaf side of the plate and a dense burgundy color of the back side. Each type of kalatei, as in the photo, has its own unique ornament. In some varieties leaf plates up to 20-40 cm long are markedly corrugated.

Kalateja Varshevicha (Calathea warscewiczii)

It is thanks to the color, close to the coloring of saffron, that the Krokata kalathea received its second name.
Many growers know this elegant look like a saffron kalate. In comparison with closely related species, this plant is compact enough and does not take up much space even on a window sill. But the nature of the plant is not too compliant, to achieve flowering and stable growth of dark foliage is possible only if all the requirements for the care of this guest from the distant tropics are met.

Calathea rubifarba (Calathea rufibarba)

Kalatea rosyopicta – comes from Brazil, where the plants reach 80-cm height and delight the look of variegated foliage, which is equally difficult to find even in other types of kalatei.
Most often in the collections of lovers of indoor plants meets kalateya Medallion. This variety can be recognized by round-oval leathery leaves with multicolored ornaments. The central vein is pink, olive brushstrokes are visible around it, and near the edge of the leaf plate there is a figured band of creamy or white color.
